In the United States, Women Veterans Day is observed on June 12th. Women Veterans Day honors the accomplishments and achievements of women in the United States Armed Forces.

Women Veterans Day commemorates the passage of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, which permitted women to join the military as permanent members. Women, with the exception of nurses, were only allowed to serve during wartime prior to the Act.
